Regulating Artificial Intelligence (AI) is like regulating the ocean. Making regulations to cover all AI systems – as Gibran said in his book ‘The Prophet’ [1]- is like building sand towers while the ocean brings more sand to the shore. Rather than regulating a shapeless and multifaceted technology we call AI, we should use regulation to deliver outcomes that positively impact society and avoid its negative effects.
